York Grain Dryer Fire

YORK – The York Fire Department was dispatched to Nutrition Services at Fourth and Division Avenue shortly after noon on Tuesday.

According to York Fire Chief Mike Lloyd, they responded to a report of a fire in a grain dryer.

He said at the scene the amount of damage was not readily known, “but this dryer will probably be out of service for a while.”

The department brought the aerial truck as part of the response, due to the height of the facility.

Also responding was the York Police Department, as they provided traffic control.

Chief Lloyd said they expected to be on the scene until 2 p.m., or later.
