COLUMBUS, Neb. - A woman who came to police to alert them on some of her boyfriend's crimes was charged with burglary after police say she told them she assisted in one of the crimes.
21-year-old Amanda McCloskey is charged with felony burglary and misdemeanor theft by unlawful taking and will make her first appearance in court on Thursday.
According to court records, McCloskey came to the Platte County Sheriffs Office in mid-August to tell them her boyfriend, 37-year-old Eleazor Oceguera, recently assaulted her and had committed other crimes.
The affidavit says, she told authorities that about five days prior, her boyfriend was upset and kicked in the back door to a Columbus residence. The documents say, she told authorities that Oceguera first took a shower inside, before taking several items.
McCloskey told the PCSO according to records, that she went inside the residence with him and that he made her take some items.
The sheriffs office says they later found some of items in Oceguera's garage in his residence in Monroe.
The affidavit says, Oceguera was asked about the incident while housed for a different reason at the Platte County jail and told police that he committed the burglary and did it because the resident gave drugs to McCloskey, according to court records.
The documents say McCloskey, who lived in Monroe with Oceguera, also told authorities about a car theft Oceguera allegedly committed last year.
If convicted, McCloskey faces up to 20 years in prison on the charge.
