Winnebago Man Gets Prison Time Over Sex Offender Registry

OMAHA - A Winnebago man is headed to prison after authorities say he misled them in registering as a sex offender. The U.S. Attorney's office says 32-year old Duane Levering has been sentenced to a 30-month prison term for failing to register as a sex offender. Authorities say Levering registered as a sex offender at a made-up residence in Sioux City earlier this year. He was found to instead be living at an address in Winnebago. He had not registered with the Winnebago Tribe as a sex offender. He was convicted and jailed in 2005 for aggravated abuse of a minor. He was already imprisoned once for failing to register as a sex offender in 2013.
