West Highway 136 Bridge to Open, Contractor Was “Eager” to Get Project Done
The construction crew continues to work Friday afternoon.
FAIRBURY - Good news for those commuters. Department of Roads Manager Dennis Endorf says, "We have it set up for opening this coming Wednesday. We hope 8 o'clock in the morning, it'll be open." The construction that has closed down the bridge off of West Highway 136 since March, is finishing early. "The contractor was very eager to get things going and get it done, and get it back open. That was a blessing to us and the people." Good weather also played a factor in getting the work done. Hawkins Construction Company out of Omaha took on the $4.3 million project. Endorf explained to News Channel Nebraska, "We removed the old structure, and as we were removing, we also built the new to replace it."
