VFW Flag Day Celebration Meal June 12
Flag Retirement ceremony to begin at 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 12 during VFW Celebration Meal in Broken Bow.

BROKEN BOW–Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) member Dell Moninger spoke with KCNI/KBBN earlier this month regarding a special Flag Day Celebration Meal on Saturday, June 12, 2021 from 4 to 7 p.m. at at the Veterans Memorial Building (416 South 1st Ave.) on 1st Avenue in Broken Bow.

The VFW usually holds a pancake feed on Presidents Day but could not do so this year due to COVID-19. The VFW raises money for scholarships and this year’s recipients include Jackson Henry of Ansley, Minji Haynes of Broken Bow, and Caleb Moninger of Broken Bow.

To help raise funds for the scholarships, the VFW is hosting a Grocery Kart gift card raffle with the drawing of the winners taking place during the June 12 Flag Day Celebration Meal. To buy a raffle ticket, contact a local veteran, stop in the Culligan office in Broken Bow, or call Dell Moninger at 308-870-4150.

You can also contact Dell to buy a ticket to the June 12 Celebration Meal. The meal will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Veteran’s Memorial Building on 1st Avenue in Broken Bow. Tickets are $10 and the meal will include sloppy joes, pulled pork, and mountain oysters. The Flag Retirement Ceremony will start at 5 p.m.

Moninger encourages the public to buy their June 12 Flag Day Celebration Meal tickets in advance.

“It’s good food, it’s a good time, a chance for everybody maybe to get out. It’s been a long year and a half. I think it’s time, I think the community will probably be ready,” Moninger said.
