PLAINVIEW, NE – One person is dead following a two-vehicle crash in Pierce County.
Pierce County Sheriff Rick Eberhardt says it happened around 5:40 p.m. Tuesday about two miles south of Plainview on Nebraska Highway 13.
Sheriff Eberhardt says a Ford Taurus driven by 80-year-old Chris Lerum of Creighton collided head-on with a Jeep Grand Limited driven by Alexis Hrbek of Verdigre. Lerum was pronounced dead at the scene.
Hrbek and her passenger, Katherine Hrbek of Verdigre, were trapped in their vehicle. Alexis Hrbek was transported to Plainview Hospital by Plainview Rescue while Katherine Hrbek was transported by LifeNet helicopter to Mercy Hospital in Sioux City.
