UPDATE: Name Of Standoff Suspect Released; Charges Detailed

COLUMBUS – The Columbus Police Department has released the name of the suspect involved in a Monday afternoon pursuit and standoff, as well as the charges they are facing.

The CPD says that officers attempted to stop 35-year-old Justin Dittmer around 12:42 PM after he was seen driving a white, 2009 Chevorlet Impala that was reported to have been stolen in Fremont. Dittmer did not stop, and a pursuit ensued until the vehicle crashed into a yard near 3rd Avenue and Air Vista Drive.

Dittmer then ran from the crash and broke into an unoccupied home in the 2800 block of 3rd Avenue. A search warrant was obtained to enter the residence, and with the assistance of the Nebraska State Patrol SWAT team, officers entered the residence and arrested Dittmer.

Dittmer has been charged for the following offenses:

Possession of Stolen Property
Driving Under Revocation
Fleeing in a Motor Vehicle to Avoid Arrest
Willful Reckless Driving
Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident
First Degree Trespassing
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

The incident is still under investigation, and the CPD says that additional charges are anticipated.
