A 59-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman injured in a head-on collision Wednesday night in Mills County, Iowa were flown to Omaha hospitals in critical condition.
Investigators from the Iowa State Patrol said Bruce E. Farrow of Council Bluffs was northbound on 221st Street near Deacon Road north of Glenwood when his 2005 Chevrolet Silverado pick up truck crossed the center line. The pickup collided with a southbound 2009 Ford Edge driven by Gayleen M. Chickering of Glenwood about 8:15 p.m.
Farrow was taken by medical helicopter to the Nebraska Medical Center. Chickering was taken by medical helicopter to Creighton University Medical Center-Bergan Mercy. Fire and rescue personnel from Glenwood, Pacific Junction and Oak Township assisted at the scene.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
