Tree Planted After Local 4th Grader Wins Contest, Drawing will be Feature on Billboard

COLUMBUS - A tree was planted at Lost Creek Elementary School, after a local 4th Grader won a drawing contest for the 811 dig hotline. Kyrstyn Long, as well as  the rest of her class and 8-11 year olds across the state,  submitted posters for the competition. Long's drawing was selected by board members as the winning drawing, and her poster will be blown up and placed on a billboard on 23rd Street in Columbus. "It was really exciting because I love drawing, and when I found out that I won it was a really exciting time, and my mom was very proud of me," said Long. Long was also give the chance to tour the State Capitol building in Lincoln in early April. "It was very big. It almost looked like a castle, and it was so amazing. I got to meet the governor and shake his hand. It was very, very exciting," said Long. The tree was planted on the south side of Lost Creek's inclusive playground during an educational event on Wednesday afternoon.
