Trailer Catches Fire in Columbus in Frigid Temperatures

COLUMBUS, Neb. - A trailer started on fire in freezing temperatures in Columbus late Thursday morning. Around 11 a.m. the Columbus Fire Department were called to the 700 block of 33rd Ave. near the HWY 81 & HWY 30 intersection for smoke. Smoke could still be seen coming out of the trailer around 11:15 a.m. but CFD appeared to have the fire contained to the one single trailer. According to scanner traffic, the occupants were able to leave the trailer before being harmed. No ambulances could be seen at the fire. Temperatures were around 10 degrees when the fire occurred, with wind chills around -8. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
