Traffic Stop Leads to Seizure of Nearly 50 lbs of Marijuana

NORTH PLATTE —The Nebraska State Patrol seized nearly 50 pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop on Interstate 80 near Cozad. Troopers say the stop occurred just before 11 p.m. on Wednesday, November 8th, when they located a 2008 GMC pick-up with a headlight violation. Trooper say during the stop, they detected the odor of marijuana from the pick-up, and searched the vehicle. Troopers say they located 48 pounds of marijuana located under a sheet of plywood in the bed the pick-up. Officers say they found an additional one ounce of marijuana, in addition to drug paraphernalia, behind the driver's seat. Curtis Dewayne Dixon, 60, of California, was taken into custody for possession of marijuana, intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia, no drug tax stamp, and improper vehicle lighting. Dixon was housed a the Dawson County jail.
