Traffic Stop Leads to Controlled Substance Arrest Near Platte River

CENTRAL CITY - The Merrick County Sheriff's Office says a recent traffic stop, led to the arrest of a Grand Island Woman on multiple drug charges. MCSO says on Saturday, a deputy initiated and traffic stop on 6th Street and Fort Kearney Road, just west of Bader Park and the Platte River. Following an investigation, the deputy arrested Desiree Rhoads, of Grand Island, for felony possession of a controlled substance and possession of a legend drug, says the MCSO. A legend drug is a drug that is approved by the FDA, but the owner must have a prescription. Rhoads was arrested and taken to the Hall County Jail, according to the MCSO. =
