Third Thursdays in the Square Summer Kickoff

BROKEN BOW—Tonight marks the summer kickoff for the first Third Thursday of 2018 in the Broken Bow city square from 5 to 7 p.m. The outdoor concert series began last year through the collaborative efforts between the Broken Bow Chamber of Commerce and the city.

Singer-songwriter Laura Joy will be performing as the season kickoff artist on May 17 and Becton-Dickinson serves as the business sponsor.

Tonight will also feature a Burger Bash (sponsored by Grocery kart) to support the Broken Bow FBLA students. In addition, the Spartan Travel Group from AnsleyLitchfield schools will be hosting a bake sale.

The city square makes for a picturesque scene of children playing on the playground, families enjoying picnics, and community members listening to great music in the historic Broken Bow bandstand. Third Thursdays will take place on the third Thursday of each month until late summer/early fall.

Chicago based, Laura Joy is an NPR featured, nationally touring artist with an eclectic song list of award-winning original music and popular songs from the 60s to Today’s Top 40. Her soothing voice has been known to quell dark, angry bars full of ornery old Irishmen. With comparisons that range from Jewel to Natalie Merchant, Laura’s percussive fingerpicking and buoyant vocals have graced audiences from as far as the Sun Belt to the streets of Manhattan. Currently, she averages around 100 shows per year nationwide. For more information on Laura Joy please log onto www.laurajoymusic.com where you can listen to her music.

Farmers, crafters, bakers, and food trucks are invited to participate at Third Thursday in the Square celebrations too. Please call the BB Chamber office at 872-5691 or email [email protected] for more details.
