Tecumseh Resident, WWII Ship Wreck Survivor Clarence Hupka, Dies at 95

TECUMSEH, Neb. - A man that survived a shipwreck that killed around 75 percent of the men on board in 1945 passed away this week at 95 years old. Clarence Hupka, a Cook native, who was a member of the USS Indianapolis in World War II, died in his Tecumseh residence on Sunday. Hupka was a part of a recent documentary on the shipwreck that killed around 900 men in the late stages of the war. Hupka was honored last year with an award from the Navy League that was presented to him during a screening of the documentary in Tecumseh last year. Hupka's funeral will take place on Friday at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tecumseh. Check out more on Hupka's story in the video above.
