Stothert Recallers: ‘We Still Can and Will Make a Difference’

Omaha, NE.—The folks behind a struggling attempt to recall Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert insist they are not dead yet.

Over the weekend the founder of the movement unexpectedly dropped out citing family reasons but told his Facebook readers that he believed the operation had a “strong infrastructure” in place and hoped that someone else would “take the wheel.”

Now the group known as “Recall Stothert for a Better Omaha” says in its latest Facebook post that they “strongly believe that we still can and will make a difference” as they reach out to “serious” candidates who can run the campaign.

The group says the job of campaign manager is a volunteer post for “someone who wants to make a difference.”

Should the move ever take off recallers would need to gather nearly 35,000 valid signatures in 30 days to put the issue on the ballot.

Mayor Stothert has not commented on the recall effort.
