COMSTOCK–Attention all weather lovers! the National Weather Service (NWS) is hosting Storm Spotter classes that are free and open to the public. On March 8 an Advanced Spotter class will be hosted at the Comstock Community building beginning at 7 p.m.
An advanced class is scheduled at the Merna Fire Hall on March 15 at 7 p.m.
A National Weather Service employee told KCNI/KBBN that the advanced training sessions will focus on dual polarization radar, radar interpretation, hail, and an overall better understanding of storm spotting. Other classes will look into the features of thunderstorms and tornadoes, and discuss how spotters can assist the National Weather Service.
Anyone who loves weather or has been thinking about becoming a storm spotter is encouraged to attend. There is no charge to attend the classes. The NWS said they rely on weather information from local citizens in order to support the community.
