Stephanie Wright Earns Clerk Certification

BROKEN BOW— The City of Broken Bow is proud to announce that Stephanie Wright has earned the designation of Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC), which is awarded by the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC), Inc.

The IIMC grants the CMC designation only to those municipal clerks who complete demanding educational requirements. The designations are also only given if the person has a record of significant contributions to their local government, community, and state.

“You have to go to clerk school every year. Then, after that, you fill out assessments on what you have learned and then if they are good enough you get points and if they aren’t you don’t [get points],” said Stephanie Wright.

The requirements usually take four years to complete, while Stephanie was able to complete them in just two and a half years. While Stephanie may be humble about the accomplishment, it is something to be proud of to put in the work and accomplish this certification in such a short amount of time.

“There’s five classes a day, two to five hours depending on which one you go to and each one has something to do with what you do as clerks, like how you run a meeting and laws. There’s so much stuff that when I started I had no idea was involved and it’s been amazing.”

Stephanie talked about how in the beginning she thought that it was going to just be classes she had to get through, but in the end, she found out that she could learn so much more.

“I’ve learned so much going to all these things its amazing, I’m so glad I did it. I wouldn’t be where I am today and be able to do the things I do at work. I wouldn’t be as confident as I am without going to all those classes and everything, so it was very worth the hard work.”
