STANTON - The race for Stanton County's District 1 now no longer has an incumbent.
Current District 1 Commissioner David Gutshall announced Wednesday that he is no longer seeking re-election, choosing instead to drop out of the race.
Gutshall said in a statement that he didn't feel he would be able to devote his attention to the commissioner position if re-elected.
In his statement, Gushall also endorsed one of his challengers - Doug Huttman. Huttman is running for the position along with Zygmunt Orlowski. Both are Republicans. There is no Democratic candidate.
