South Loup Ready for State Title Appearance

The South Loup Bobcats will face East Butler for the Class D1 state championship Monday at Lincoln’s Memorial Stadium. The Bobcats are 12-0 and have advanced through the playoffs with wins against Dundy County-Stratton (48-22), Elm Creek (36-22), CWCE (54-15), and Medicine Valley (34-14). East Butler enters Monday’s championship with a 10-2 record. Their run through the playoffs has included wins against Hartington-Newcastle (52-20), Nebraska Lutheran (46-32), Creighton (40-28), and Howells-Dodge (22-12). Both teams are led offensively by their quarterback as each has run and thrown for over 1,000 yards this season. South Loup’s Jack Rush has run for 1,772 yards this season and 43 TD’s. Rush has also passed for 1,469 yards and 22 TDs. The stat line for East Butler quarterback Dalton Bohac is also impressive. Bohac has 1,031 yards rushing and 1,984 yards passing this season. He has accounted for 17 touchdowns on the ground and 29 through the air. The D1 championship will kick off Monday morning at 10:15 am from Lincoln’s Memorial Stadium.
