Shoulder Work to Begin on N-2 Ravenna to Litchfield

GRAND ISLAND — Weather permitting, Western Engineering Company of Harlan, Iowa, and the Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) are announcing the start of a shoulder repair and replacement project, with the first part to begin October 23 along N-2 between Ravenna and Litchfield, followed by work along the US-81 north of Stromsburg. Both locations on the $1,540,508 project include patching, milling and asphalt replacement. The project will enhance the safety in both locations by adding shoulder rumble strips to alert drivers when they begin to leave the roadway. It is anticipated the N-2 location will be completed this fall, and if weather permits, work will begin on the US-81 segment. Any work which cannot be completed in the fall of 2017 will be completed in the spring of 2018. During construction, traffic will be controlled by flaggers and a pilot car. The Department of Transportation manager for this project is Eric Klein of Grand Island. Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously through construction zones.
