CALLAWAY—The official ribbon cutting has taken place and
Shotgun Annie’s is ready to continue with business as usual. The saloon and grill has been open for a few months and serves up a wide selection of chicken, burgers, Sunday buffets, Taco Thursdays, and a crowd favorite—the chicken fried cheeseburger.
Owners Candice Smith and Terry Burnett thought the western-themed space would be the perfect spot and decided on Shotgun Annie’s for the name, Annie being a nickname for Candice. Terry even created a 19-foot metal shotgun to hang on the storefront.

Smith’s daughter Dana works as the front-of-house manager overseeing the bar, waitresses, training, and many other duties while her mom cooks in the kitchen. Terry and his son Tyler help the girls in this family business.
The Callaway Chamber hosted the ribbon cutting on Monday afternoon and the open house featured complimentary appetizers. The bar is also up and running and the crew plans on hosting many holiday parties this upcoming season.
Dana said she is excited about the success the restaurant has seen so far and looks forward to growing and welcoming local and out-of-town guests, as well as musical guests.
“We are super busy already and I just hope that it keeps bringing more people in here and we keep doing the same thing we already are. We’ve had a lot of people even from out of town coming in. So that’s good that the news is spreading that the food is good and now that we’ve got beer I hope it helps too, a little bit,” Dana Smith said.
