Sheriff Responds To Alleged Tent Kidnapping

TECUMSEH - An Elk Creek man is charged with terroristic threats after allegedly taking a woman from a tent at Iron Horse Trail Lake near Dubois. Johnson County Sheriff Scott Walton was dispatched to an Elk Creek disturbance on Aug. 7. He was told that Christopher Johnson, 26, kidnapped his ex-girlfriend from a tent. When the friend she had been staying with at the lake went to the residence to check on her, Johnson allegedly threatened him with a .22 rifle. The sheriff reported that the ex-girlfriend denied being kidnapped, but said was too frightened to leave Johnson's residence. A preliminary hearing on charges of terroristic threats and use of a firearm to commit a felony is scheduled Oct. 4.
