Semi-Trailer Accident on Highway 21 Tuesday Morning

OCONTO--A semi-trailer carrying cattle overturned on Highway 21 during the early hours of Tuesday morning. Approximately 3:30 a.m. the accident was reported near mile marker 56 on Highway 21, near Oconto, according to sheriff’s office records. The semi was headed south when it ran off the road, overcorrected, shifted its weight, and then overturned according to Chief Deputy Adam Miller of the Custer County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO). The driver experienced scrapes and bruises, according to Miller, and at least five cows had to be put down at the scene. Lane closures were enforced throughout the morning but opened later in the day. Oconto Fire and Rescue, Broken Bow Fire and Rescue, and the CCSO were on the scene.
