Schuyler Community Schools to be Honored for Contribution to Arts

OMAHA, Neb. - Schuyler Community Schools will receive a prestigious honor next month. Schuyler schools was named one of the two winners of the 2017 NebraskARTS Award. Schuyler was given the award for "Utilizing the arts to support an influx of students who are recent arrivals to the U.S. in a way that allows them to participate, engage, and express themselves," according to the press release. Schuyler Community Schools and Seward Public Schools, who will also receive the honor, will be given their award at an official ceremony at the rotunda of the state capitol on October 18th. That event will include musical performances, a presentation of student art work and other brief performances. Past winners have included schools in Omaha, Lincoln, Kearney, York and other small towns in Nebraska. The award is sponsored by the Nebraskans for the Arts, which says it "promotes the advancement of learning in and through the arts for all Nebraska residents."
