SARGENT – With the ongoing countywide dispute with summer’s downright inconsiderate distribution of temperature, residents now more than ever should be grateful for the relief found within community swimming pools.
Sargent’s Summer Block Party, set for Saturday, July 23, will provide an opportunity for area individuals and businesses to show their support for their neighborhood oasis. In addition to its built-in social aspect, all proceeds from the evening will go directly to the Sargent swimming pool for improvements and maintenance.
Twenty dollars admits the whole family starting at 3 p.m. until 10 p.m.; the event will feature yard games such as corn hole, giant Jenga, and mini golf. Face painting and other kids’ games are promised as well, and Tropical Sno and Mean Bone BBQ have trucks parked nearby to sate any appetites.
Admission also enters one for a grand prize giveaway courtesy of Mr. Rudy’s Mercantile: a gift certificate for airfare and hotel for 6 nights for two people in Las Vegas.
Comedians Ed Burroughs and Ben Marcotte will perform, as will musical acts Tazy Scott and the Sheila Greenland Band.
