BROKEN BOW – The Salvation Army’s 2022 Backpack Giveaway was a resounding success, put mildly. The August 3 annual event geared 163 area students for the upcoming school year, which begins in a matter of days.

Held at the Municipal Building, the giveaway also provided students with pens, pencils, glue, and other supplies to aid in projects and assignments for the school year.

“We were very pleased with the turnout, which was about the same as last year,” Carol Allen, project coordinator, said. “Thanks to all the parents and children who attended, to the volunteers who assisted with the Giveaway and to those who contributed school supplies. Custer County Salvation Army sincerely appreciates your support!”
