With summer driving starting to roll into full gear, The Nebraska Department of Transportation is also starting to ramp up construction on our highways and city streets. Weather permitting, road work will begin on Highway 2 between Halsey and Dunning on Monday June 13, 2022.
Western Engineering Co. of Harlan, Iowa is the prime contractor for the project. Work includes new asphalt driving surfaces, some bridge repair, luminaire replacement, some shoulder work and seeding. Traffic will be maintained with a pilot car and flaggers. There will be an 11 foot width restriction in effect. The bridge work will be performed under daytime and nighttime lane closures using temporary traffic signals. Anticipated completion of this project is September 2022.
Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously in and near work zones, to buckle up, and to put the cell phones away.
