Omaha, NE.—Opposition to at least one key element of Gov. Pete Ricketts latest property tax relief plan is creating some noteworthy if not strange political bedfellows.
Among them Omaha’s Republican/conservative Mayor Jean Stothert and the liberal leaning OpenSky think tank: Both are fighting Ricketts’ attempt to change the constitution and put a three percent cap on property tax increases by local governments.
Ricketts is scheduled to testify in favor of the amendment at tomorrow’s public hearing before the Revenue Committee.
