COLUMBUS – Governor Ricketts came to Columbus Tuesday to endorse Doug Oertwich, one of the candidates vying for Senator Paul Shumacher’s District 22 seat.
Governor Pete Ricketts told attendees of a small get together, that he thought Oertwich had a good knowledge base, to help two of Nebraska’s biggest industries work together.
“Having that business background in agriculture, he knows what it takes to run a successful operation. He can also be that bridge between our agribusiness interests, and our urban business interests, because he understands what it takes to make a successful business run. He’s somebody who’s going to work hard on behalf of the citizens of Platte County,” says Ricketts.
Oertwich said having the chance to talk and work with the Governor, helped him decide to run for the District 22 Seat.
“I just wanna say I’m thankful for everybody’s continued support, and I’m going to work hard, and with your help, I’m going to be down at the legislature next year,” Oertwich said to attendees.
The two politicians met with constituents Tuesday evening at Duster’s in downtown Columbus.
