Resident rescued from a flooded O’Neill home

O’NEILL, NE (News Channel Nebraska) – An O’Neill area resident is now safe thanks to O’Neill Fire and Rescue.

The team posted this video to Facebook around noon. It shows rescuers paddling a rowboat across flooded land to this person’s home and returning them to dry land.

Extensive flooding has been reported in and around O’Neill. Residents in northern Holt County are experiencing some of the worst flooding in the state as a dam on the Niobrara River has been compromised.

East of O’Neill, the Elkhorn River has crested at nine point four feet which is half a foot over flood stage.
