Report of Apartment Knife Assault Leads to Drug Arrest

COLUMBUS - Columbus Police responded to a report of an assault with a knife at a local apartment, and ended up arresting a man on drug charges. CPD say in an affidavit that on February 14th, they were called to an apartment on 29th Avenue in northern Columbus, for an assault involving a knife. Police say after arriving on the scene, a man claimed a man claimed that another man at the location, had stolen items from him that were inside a gym bag located on the floor. The alleged thief gave permission to the police to search the bag, and police found two Clonazepam pills, a schedule 4 controlled substance, in a zip lock bag, according to the affidavit. The alleged thief was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, and is facing charges for attempt of a class 4 felony, unlawful acts relating to drugs, and criminal mischief under $500, all misdemeanors.
