Re-Modeled Classrooms, New Furniture, Computers, Other Purchases, Approved by Lakeview School Board

COLUMBUS, Neb. - The Lakeview school board approved purchases and improvements for three of their schools this week. According to Superintendent Aaron Plas, four 49-year-old junior high classrooms at Lakeview School will be completely re-modeled. The school will replace the current partition walls with drywall. They will also replace furniture in the media center and in the front entry of the school. Platte Center Elementary will have two air-conditioning systems that have been leaking replaced, and they will also update the floor in the kindergarten classroom. The cost of all those projects is $97,500, according to Plas. The board also approved over $63,000 in technology upgrades. 26 new Mac computers will be headed to Shell Creek Elementary, replacing older versions. Lakeview will receive some technology as well, with nine Mac computers, three Macbook Airs, and three Chromebook carts, which each store 24 Chromebooks, being approved. The purchases were called "summer projects" by Plas. He said they went to the board now so they had plenty of time to prepare.
