Rails, Trails, and Windmills—Oconto Fun Day 2019!

OCONTO—Want to keep the good times rolling after this week’s Independence Day celebrations? Head on over to Oconto for Oconto Fun Day 2019! Events are scheduled Friday through Sunday as part of the Rails, Trails, and Windmills festivities designed to honor the history of Oconto and to bring the community together.

Activities kick off on Friday, July 5 with a Mystery Scavenger Hunt at 5:30 p.m. (register at Oconto Public Library).

Saturday, July 6 is a huge day of fun beginning with a 5K Fun Run/Walk that is a “great, great cause” according to Dan Eggleston.

The Colton’s Crusaders 5K is not only a way to honor a little boy named Colton who passed away four years ago from childhood cancer, but it is also a way to raise funds for continued support of families.

In an interview with KCNI/KBBN, Dan Eggleston said Colton was a brave young man who put up a fight throughout his battle with cancer and now his parents, Jayson and Dani Eggleston, continue that fight by fundraising for those affected by childhood cancer and to keep Colton’s memory alive.

“Colton was a great young man, the epitome of what true courage really is,” Dan Eggleston said.

The 5K Fun Run/Walk will start at 8:30 a.m. at the intersection of 7th and Grand Avenue. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and is $20 for adults and $15 for children. Contact Dani at 308-293-5195 for more information.
