TAYLOR–The Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) is hosting a Prescribed Burn Workshop on Tuesday, March 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The workshop will be held at Bootleg Brewers in Taylor (45145 829 Rd, Taylor 68879).

Registration fee $15 ($10 for Vol. Fire Dept. personnel) and includes lunch.
Participants can get a flash drive pre-loaded with prescribed burn materials.

2018 Workshop Main Presenters:

Bill Hiatt: Resource Conservationist – Central Platte Natural Resources District. Graduated in 2014 from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Ag Sciences/Natural Resources, specializing in Fire Ecology and Management. Bill has been on 113 burns in Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Tennessee.

Shawn Jacobs: Type 1 Incident Meteorologist, National Weather Service, North Platte, NE.

There will be information for everyone at this workshop. Some advanced topics will be discussed, including fire behavior, topography and fuel effects on prescribed burns. The effects of weather, and useful weather planning tools, will be shared. Also presented will be information on cost sharing opportunities for area landowners.
