BROKEN BOW—The next time you head to the eye doctor you will really think you need to get your eyes checked! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but its safe to say the overall optics have been updated and patients will be blown away by the transformation of Prairie EyeCare Center in Broken Bow (408 S 8th Ave).

A GROW Award was presented by the Broken Bow Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday, June 29 to celebrate the newly renovated office that proves to be just the right prescription. The local eyecare center has been in its current location since 1990 and the décor remained the same until now.

No longer displaying its distinguished pink and turquoise colors (and no more orange shag carpet), Prairie EyeCare has instead opted for grays, white, and blacks.

Staff members said on Wednesday morning that seeing the office through its modern lens allows for a more open and brighter workspace. The renovated front portion of the building allows increased space to house frames, better lighting, better flow for the staff, and a user-friendly front desk with easier access for patients in wheelchairs

“It needed it! Dr. Jeff Sanger joked. “It’s way more modern, it’s more open, it’s a lot brighter. We moved out of the 80s!”

The renovation includes new paint, flooring, lighting, furniture, and equipment in both the front area as well as the offices, exam rooms, and lab. After several construction delays due to COVID-19, the farsighted project began in November 2021 and was completed in the last few months, with the office needing to close for only one full week in February 2022.

Dr. Jeff Sanger, who has been at Prairie EyeCare since 1991, said he tried to use local contractors as much as possible. He appreciates the dedication of Kyle Wolfe of Sandhills Custom Carpentry, M&M Electric, Broken Bow Furniture and Flooring, and Designs of Distinction in addition to Eye Designs LLC, out of Pennsylvania.

The staff thanked everybody for their patience during the construction and Dr. Jeff Sanger and Dr. Jincy Ross (who began at Prairie EyeCare in July 2021) thanked their entire staff for all of their help.

“I want to thank everybody for being patient with us and thank the staff for putting up with a lot of mess! They were very helpful and I haven’t thanked them enough for that,” Dr. Sanger said.

Prairie EyeCare Center offers comprehensive optometry–glasses, contacts, exams, and will treat eye diseases and infections. A doctor from North Platte visits Broken Bow once a month to conduct cataract surgery at the hospital. To make an appointment, call 308-872-2291.
