Accused Pot-Brownie Dealer Working on Plea Deal

COLUMBUS - A man accused of giving a pot-laced brownie to a woman, sending her to the hospital is working with on a plea deal, according to court records. 35-year-old Kevin Rinke has asked that his Platte County case be continued until December 20th to complete a substance abuse evaluation while working with prosecutors on a plea deal. Rinke is charged with a class 2A felony, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. The charges stem from an incident in May of 2017. A Columbus man accused of giving a woman a pot-laced brownie that caused her to be hospitalized, will soon head back to court on marijuauna delivering charges. 35-year-old Kevin Rinke is charged with felony delivery of marijuana after an incident in May. Court records say on May 11th, a woman was taken by ambulance to the Columbus hospital after ‘feeling numb and vomiting.’ Police say a friend of the woman said that when she arrived at the residence, Rinke was there, but he soon left the apartment. Records also say that the hospitalized woman said that she ate half of the pot brownie after Rinke gave it to her. The police were given the other half for evidence, according to court documents. The documents say that the officer could smell marijuauna in the brownie. Records say Rinke admitted to giving the woman the pot-laced brownie, but no other substances were in it. Rinke will be in court for a hearing on November 1st.
