Polls Hit Fischer: Danger or Deja vu?

Omaha, NE.—Another day, another poll that finds Republican Sen. Deb Fischer struggling—but she's seen this movie before and liked the ending. News Channel Nebraska first reported a recent Morning Consult survey which found Fischer with a 45 percent approval rating, 35 percent disapproval. Now a poll by the left leaning Public Policy Polling group (which has its share of critics) says Fischer's approval numbers have fallen giving little-known Democrat Jane Raybould a shot at victory next fall. [caption id="attachment_1260149" align="alignright" width="274"] Jane Raybould[/caption] Although 71 percent said they don't know who Raybould is, she trails Fischer by 11 points: Fischer 42 percent, Raybould 31 percent. Those numbers are backed up in the poll by Fischer's sagging approval rating: 35 percent approve, 45 percent disapprove. Team Fischer has not responded to NCN's request for comment. In 2012 an 11th hour poll found Fischer in a dogfight with Democrat Bob Kerrey. The Omaha World-Herald had Kerrey —ex-governor/ex-U.S. Senator/Congressional Medal of Honor recipient—three points behind in the final few weeks. But Fischer not only won she left Kerrey in the dust winning by 130,000 votes, 17 points. It was Fischer 57.8 percent to Kerrey's 42.2 percent.
