Platte Jail Hoping to Host State Prisoners

COLUMBUS - The Platte County Jail is hoping that they can once again be host to prisoners being held in the state jail. Platte County Sheriff Ed Wemhoff says they have held state prisoners at the Platte County Jail facility in the recent past, but have not for roughly 6 months. Wemhoff says they are reaching out to officials, in hopes of finding out what standards they need to meet, in order to be host for state prisoners. Wemhoff says hosting the prisoners from the state jail, in the Platte County Jail, allows for an extra avenue of income for the county. Wemhoff stated that they are especially looking into what guidelines need to be met medically, for them to host prisoners. Wemhoff says they currently have strict guidelines that may need to be relaxed slightly in order to host the prisoners.
