Platte County Sheriff Seeking Re-Election

COLUMBUS, Neb. - Sheriff of Platte County Ed Wemhofff says he enjoys the job and is looking to continue it for the next four years. Wemhoff filed for his second full-term in office late last year. "I'm looking to do this for years to come," says Wemhoff. He was appointed sheriff after Jon Zavadil retired in the summer of 2014. He was officially elected in November of that year. "I've learned a lot in my first-term," says Wemhoff. "I'd like to continue serving." Wemhoff, a Republican, is the only person to file for the position as of Tuesday.
