COLUMBUS - A man currently incarcerated in the Platte County Jail is facing a felony after whipping another inmate with a towel and punching him in the face.
An affidavit state officers have surveillance footage of Sylas Stender, 28, of Omaha, whipping another inmate with a towel at least 45 times, in addition to strangling the inmate with the towel and punching him in the chin.
Officers say Stender allegedly justified his actions by saying that is how men act in prison.
The incident allegedly occurred in early October, and a status on felony hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.
Stender was serving a sentence for felony assault, dating back to a 2015 incident, at the time of the prison assault .
