Annual Pancake Breakfast a Success

BROKEN BOW—No one went home hungry after Sunday’s pancake breakfast and bake sale. Our Saviour Lutheran Church and Thrivent Community Action Team sponsored the annual event. A portion of this year’s proceeds benefited the local Diaper Depot.

Volunteer Milly Winkler said she has been a volunteer since this event was started about 10 years ago.

“Well I like that we can give to another agency. This goes to the Diaper Depot. And I like meeting people that I haven’t seen for a while,” Winkler said. “Come and enjoy our food when we have them!”

Pancakes and Bake Sale to Benefit Diaper Deopt 01/24/2019

BROKEN BOW—Come hungry to the free-will donation pancake breakfast scheduled to benefit the local Diaper Depot project. Our Saviour Lutheran Church of Broken Bow is hosting the annual pancake breakfast and bake sale on Sunday, January 27 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Broken Bow Municipal Building (314 S 10th Avenue).

Pancakes, sausage, and eggs will be served for a free-will donation. Home-baked goods will also be available for purchase. Pastor Kathy Salts of Our Saviour Lutheran Church said twenty percent of the proceeds will be going toward the Diaper Depot to benefit people in need.

“They provide packages of diapers that will get somebody through several days until they get paid,” Salts said.

Salts said the breakfast began as an experiment years ago but it was soon discovered people enjoy pancakes anytime of the day and the event provides an opportunity to welcome the public and support different ministries.

The Diaper Depot is in need of donations in order to help provide diapers, wipes, baby food, formula, and even clothes depending on availability.

“It’s like a one-stop shopping opportunity. It’s just a service to help people that are struggling. We don’t think about that much in Broken Bow about people struggling that way, but there’s a need here. So this is a great thing,” Salts said.

The Diaper Depot is open on the third Wednesday and Thursday of each month at the First Baptist Church in Broken Bow (corner of south 10th and Hwy 2). Call 308-870-5598 for details. Salts said anybody is welcome, not just people in Custer County.

The pancake breakfast is sponsored with Thrivent Community Action Team. For more information call 308-872-5093.
