Overloaded Electrical Circuit Likely Cause of Columbus Trailer Fire Last Week

COLUMBUS, Neb. -  More information about a trailer fire that occurred last week has been released. Columbus Fire Chief Daniel Miller told News Channel Nebraska that an overloaded electrical circuit caused the fire that happened late Thursday morning. The wind chill was around -10 during the fire and Miller said that forced the department to rotate more firefighters during the blaze. They also had to ensure they were keeping the occupant and the other firefighters warm while fighting the fire. The occupant was given shelter by the American Red Cross. The trailer was a total loss. The CFD had the blaze under control in around 15 minutes according to Miller, and they were able to exit the scene after about one hour.
