NORFOLK - The Briggs and Barrett Project of Norfolk is giving a donation to the city splash pad helping those with specials needs to use and access the park.
Melissa Wolf and Allison Uecker started the organization after both losing a child to sudden infant death syndrome. Vowing to bring some hope to families struggling with medical issues with education and tools in the Norfolk area.
Part of the project includes providing a waterproof wheelchair and bench to the city's new splash pad.
Co-founder of the Briggs and Barrett Project, Allison Uecker says by providing the wheelchair, they can give all children the same opportunities.
"The wheelchair really just kind of just goes with one of our motto's, is the peace of mind for parents that this little girl is now going to be able to enjoy this splash pad just like any other kid. Mom and Dad will have the piece of mind that she's going to enjoy her summer like every other kid is."
The chair will be stored at the YMCA and is available to anyone who needs it.
Moving forward from this project, Wolf and Uecker are open to suggestions on how to further help the community and support families.
"So the community is our biggest supporters for the Briggs and Barrett Project. We are open to suggestions for anyone in the community that has an idea that might go along with our piece of mind motto and along with our safe sleep education," Uecker said.
With the donations, all children can access the splash pad and have a chance to cool off this summer.
