Optimists to Host Cornhole Tournament

BROKEN BOW – The Broken Bow chapter of Optimist International (OI) will be hosting a cornhole tournament on the third Thursday of July, the 21st.

The tournament will take place at 5:30 p.m. at the Broken Bow golf course just outside of town. Registration is $20 per team; a small price to pay says tournament organizer Kirsten Scott, for all that the money funds.

“The Broken Bow Optimists do a whole lot with youth sports: football, soccer, and volleyball. We do youth scholarships as well, and all that money will be going to fund all those programs we do for the community.”

Twenty dollars’ registration also gives participants a shot at first through third place prizes, including, says Scott:

“A vacation package, which is a four-day, three-night stay at one of four or five choices of hotels, a fifty-dollar local gift card, and a twenty-five-dollar local gift card.”

Scott says that in addition to a good time, the tournament provides an opportunity for those interested in further exploring the opportunities to improve the lives of Broken Bow’s youth through OI, Scott says.

“If you come to the tournament, we will have membership applications. It’s a really great way to get involved with the community. We’re always looking for new members, which is why we started this cornhole tournament. We always need more volunteers for the little things.”

July 20 at 5:30 is the deadline to register for the tournament, exactly twenty-four hours before the first toss. There is no age restriction.
