One dead, several injured after accident at Columbus manufacturer

COLUMBUS -- One man is dead and four injured after a morning workplace accident at a Columbus manufacturer. News Channel Nebraska has confirmed that Columbus Fire and Rescue were called to Nebraska Precast at 3154 50th Ave. at 10:15 a.m. after reporting that someone was pinned under heavy equipment. Columbus Fire officials report that upon arrival they found several injured workers who were working around a concrete form used in livestock feed bunks. One man was declared dead at the scene. In addition to the fatality, four employees were transported to Columbus Community Hospital and two have been released. OSHA investigators were on scene by late afternoon and the investigation continues. "The entire Nebraska Precast Family is mourning the loss of a team member. The situation is being closely monitored; our thoughts and prayers are with the families," said, Aaron Baker, a spokesperson for Nebraska Precast.
