Norfolk School Getting Boost From LENRD Grant

NORFOLK - The Norfolk School District is among the beneficiaries of a community forestry grant. The Lower Elkhorn Natural Resources District recently awarded tree planting grants to nine communities. Among the recipients is the Norfolk Public School District. School officials say they will be using the grant to plant two trees at the recently remodeled Alternatives for Success building. Nearly $32,000 was distributed in total to schools and nine communities throughout the LENRD with the plantings to take place in the spring or fall of 2018. The LENRD's community forestry grant is open to all communities within their district and can be used on land owned by government and public school districts.
