Norfolk Couple Face Federal Fraud Charges

OMAHA - A Norfolk couple is looking at the possibility of federal prison time after an indictment was filed against them this week. According to federal court documents, 38-year old Justin Bertschinger and 46-year old Wendy Bertschinger were indicted on five different counts on Tuesday, including theft of government funds, fraud and making false statements. The five-count indictment states that Justin Bertschinger continued to receive disability and supplemental income payments despite being back to work. Federal prosecutors also say both Justin and Wendy Bertschinger lied to authorities about Justin's work situation. In total, prosecutors say the Bertschingers ended up receiving over $200,000 in payments they weren't entitled to. The two are set to make their initial appearances in federal court on April 12th.
