New Charges Possible in Antelope County Sexual Assault Case

NELIGH - A Neligh man already facing sexual assault charges in two counties could soon have more tacked on. Prosecutors in the Antelope County child sexual assault case against 51-year old Darryl Lierman have filed motions to add charges of third degree sexual assault of a child and child abuse. According to court documents, the new charges are related to a child that Lierman was alleged to have assaulted almost ten years ago. Lierman was tried in 2011 on sexual assault charges and acquitted by a jury. Lierman's attorney Douglas Stratton has filed an objection to the additional charges, saying in court documents that he has concerns about double jeopardy. Lierman presently faces eight counts in Antelope County and another three in Madison County related to various allegations of sexually assaulting children. He'll next be in court in Madison for his arraignment on Sep. 22.
