Nebraska State 4-H Foundation Looking To Rename The Nebraska State 4-H Camp

The Nebraska State 4-H Foundation is looking to rename the Nebraska State 4-H Camp. According to the form, the Nebraska State 4-H Camp is located in the Nebraska National Forest near Halsey. Built in 1959, it was been home to 4-H camps serving thousands of youth and creating even more lifelong memories. The lodge has hosted various adult events and rentals including weddings, company retreats, and more. Through the 60+ years of existence, the Nebraska State 4-H Camp has had a profound impact on all of Nebraska.

The 4-H Foundation is looking for a new name for the property that captures the great fun that comes with camping for youth and families. At the same time, the name should ensure that the public knows that the facility is open to everyone and is welcome to use the center for retreats, meetings, weddings, and other events. Ideally, the name would also capture the spirit of the Nebraska Sandhills and the Nebraska National Forest.

Summer Camp programs hosted by Nebraska 4-H and outdoor education will always be an important part of this facility and will continue to be held at the facility. The Foundation is looking forward to expanding its services to include weddings, family reunions, proms, retreats, local gatherings, and other adult rentals. The goal is to make the property a space for all to enjoy and to increase capacity and impact in all areas of youth and adult programs and services.

Anyone is welcome to submit a new name for the facility or ask for the name to remain the same. The online form can be found at https://go.unl.edu/campname
