Neb. Army National Guard Hosting Open House in Broken Bow

BROKEN BOW—All are invited to a free open house hosted by the Nebraska Army National Guard this Saturday, May 4 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.

Originally from the Callaway area, Staff Sergeant Adren Uhlig has been in the National Guard for 23 years and is now stationed at the Broken Bow Armory. Staff Sargent Uhlig lines up training for the whole company and over the years he was mobilized stateside after 9/11, has helped out with flooding, tornadoes, and fires throughout Nebraska.

“That’s the great part about the National Guard—we actually serve a dual mission. We have a federal mission and a state mission,” Staff Sergeant Uhlig said.

The 1075th Transportation Company consists of about 150 people company-wide with 40 people stationed in Broken Bow. Staff Sargent Uhlig said everyone of all ages are welcome to see the armory, check out the equipment, and talk to soldiers about their experience in the National Guard.

The open house will take place on Saturday from 1 until 3 p.m. at 160 S. 1st Avenue, Broken Bow, NE 68822.

“We just want to open up the armory to the public to allow people to come in and see what we do and kind of look at some of the equipment we have,” Staff Sergeant Uhlig continued. “We will have some of our trucks on display, Humvees, we’ll have some weapons out for people to look at, and then we will also be serving free food and it is welcome to all ages.”

“Come out meet the soldiers, check out our equipment, have a good time, get some free food and it should be fun!” Staff Sergeant Uhlig said.
